Chakravyuh meaning an army formation in which one can enter but cannot exit easily. The movie got a poor start at the box office and fetched less than 25% opening.
It is a political thriller and stars Arjun Rampal, Manoj Bajpayee, Abhay Deol and Esha Gupta. The movie received mixed reviews and responses after the opening. Meanwhile it received 3.5 stars out of 5 from a leading newspaper daily.
However according to Taran Adarsh the trade expert, the movie still has chances to pick up its pace at the Box Office. He tweeted the following in twitter "#Chakravyuh picked up after a slow start. Collects*approx* 3.25 cr on Wednesday [Dashehra].Word of mouth is positive."
The movie is all about a war that is raging up in the country, a war formulated by the outsiders, giving rise to enemies who are none other than our own people. Tyranny, injustice, inequality exploitation and extortion not being tolerated the youth fights these back with all their might. The social turbulence and anger together brings out the thrill and gives amazing dose of action to the audience. Thus chakravyuh acts as a story of six amazing characters in this war against repression.
The movie’s plot goes like, Adil Khan (Rampal), a highly-ranked police officer, has been transferred to a seemingly distant village, after a few Naxalites led by the charismatic Rajan (Bajpayee) kills 84 policemen. Khan is then convinced by his longtime friend Kabir (Deol), a raged idealist, to send him into the forest to join the Naxalites as his secret informer. Kabir's ability to intercept police communications impresses both Rajan and his comrade Juhi (Patil), and they soon accept him as one of their own. The incidents take place around a corporation called Mahanta Steel, the state government and some tribal people.
After a decade and a half the script comes ablaze but was not able to set the stage on fire with its opening. The website Koimoi.com says the poor response of the audience towards the movie was due to the stiff competition from the movie ‘Student of the Year’ and this will create further issues at the box office. The website also quoted that since the movie could not do well on the opening day it is less likely to pick up later and whatever little response it got, was due to the national holiday.
